LINTON RECREATION RESERVE
Client: Golden Plains Shire Council
Timing: October – December 2021
Surface Type: Synthetic Grass
iDwala was awarded the tender for the construction of three new, synthetic turf, cricket practice nets in Linton, Victoria, by the Golden Plains Shire Council. The old and worn cricket nets were not in a good shape and as a result were not being utilised by the community.
One of the main challenges of installing the new cricket nets was drainage. The iDwala team, as part of the build, provided surveying and services to ensure there would be effective drainage to support the new cricket net facility within the existing infrastructure. The team also installed the best quality fencing as part of the build to ensure a high-quality finished product.
Kirk McDonald, President of the Linton Cricket Club said, “We now have a safe, even playing surface that plays true, the balls stay in the net, they’re not full of holes like the old one. It’s just such a huge improvement.”
The new cricket nets will increase available training times as well as allow the club to conduct skills training and beginner training with the hope of attracting new members to the club, especially girls, who can look forward to enjoying cricket in a safe and welcoming training facility.
“These new cricket nets are a great addition to the community and for the Linton Cricket Club,” said Cr Gavin Gamble, Mayor of Golden Plains Shire. The nets were officially opened in May 2021 with all stakeholders very happy with the work iDwala had done to provide a community asset sure to be well used for generations to come.
