Dendy Park is located within Bayside City Council and is the proud home of the Brighton Little Athletics Club. Over the years, the onsite facilities have been used for many regional school sporting events, with the athletics field catering for school and club athletics and various cross country events. Dendy Park engaged iDwala for the design and construction of a new long jump facility as the existing facilities were worn down and in need of reconstructing.

When the contract was awarded, the Council had no design drawings available for the construction of two compliant IAAF (World Athletics) long jump run-ups and sandpits. With iDwala’s experience, a design was provided showing a compliant layout, including the correct size sand pits.

The contract was delayed due to some seasonal Christmas Carols in the Park event which placed a huge amount of pressure on iDwala to have the concrete pavement works done before the Christmas shutdown, in order to allow the concrete to cure prior to the application of EPDM.

Strict management of the works programme was essential in order to allow works to be finished by mid January, ready for the commencement of the little athletics season.

The new run-ups feature an EPDM rubber material that offers athletes improved impact protection andgrip whilst seamlessly complementing the surrounding infrastructure and meeting the communities requirements. The long jump facilities are surrounded by a natural turf athletics track around the outside of the field, with the inside field line marked for football (soccer).
